Epidemic Sound announces ‘Way Past Taken’ - new album by Kylie Dailey

Stockholm, Sweden, February 28 - Nashville-based singer-songwriter Kylie Dailey is set to release her highly anticipated new album, Way Past Taken, marking her 2nd consecutive collaboration with Epidemic Sound. This intimate, emotionally rich collection captures Dailey’s signature citrus-tinged melodies and thoughtful storytelling, showcasing the depth of her personal experiences and musical evolution.
Way Past Taken invites listeners into a world of warmth and vulnerability, with lyrics that evoke the feeling of being enveloped by nature's beauty - wind in your hair, guitar in hand, sharing moments with loved ones. Collaborating closely with her partner, Grammy-awarded Kevin Dailey, Kylie’s work fuses folk influences from across the globe, blending American and African traditions to create a sound that feels both timeless and deeply rooted in personal history.
“This record is an exploration of exchanges and emotions, both human and divine,” says Kylie Dailey. “These melodies and ideas percolated during a 6 month writing period I took in 2024. Kevin and I considered each song and let them take shape. I shared this collection with a group of my favorite musicians, who honored me very much by contributing their own unique character to each song. I wanted to have violin and woodwinds on each track to add a sense of spirit that only those sounds give. We tracked the majority of this record live at a studio called Skinny Elephant in Nashville, TN, with our dear friend Dylan Alldredge during the very hot month of June. We called it adult summer camp because it was. A lot of these songs are filled with a spectrum of questions, because that’s what I find inside myself most of the time. Sometimes I receive answers in the melodies themselves. Almost always, the answers come in a way I’m not expecting them.”
Kylie Dailey has collaborated with Epidemic Sound since 2020 and her music has amassed more than 2.5B views on Youtube, 351M views on TikTok and 8M streams across DSPs. Dailey is also a Johnny Marr mentee in Epidemic Sound’s mentorship program, The Bridge. Her new album, Way Past Taken, can be found on all major streaming platforms, listen here.
