The new program pairs renowned global talent including Honey Dijon, Major Lazer co-founder Switch, and rising Korean artist Jeonghyeon, with standout Epidemic Sound artists to elevate storytelling, amplify brand impact, and extend the music’s reach across creators and streaming platforms.

Stockholm, Sweden—May 28, 2025—Epidemic Sound, the world’s leading soundtracking platform fueling more than 3 billion daily views across YouTube and TikTok, today launched Extra Version, a new remix series that brings together celebrated stars and Epidemic Sound artists to reimagine existing tracks and expand their impact. Honey Dijon’s remix is the first in the Extra Version series, with more to be unveiled soon, on a monthly cadence, from notable artists like Switch, a founding member of Major Lazer, and rising Korean talent Jeonghyeon

The series debuts with Honey Dijon, the Grammy Award-winning DJ, producer and cultural icon, who reimagined Umbélé, originally crafted by electronic artist Ooyy and Swedish Grammy-Award winning performer Ebo Krdum. The result is a richly layered, rhythm-driven reinterpretation now available on streaming platforms and within Epidemic Sound’s catalog for creators and brands to use in their content.

“Teaming up with Epidemic Sound was a vibe—they’re shaking things up in the best way.said Honey Dijon. Flipping ‘Umbélé’ was a chance to sprinkle some Honey on it and share that energy with creators everywhere. It’s all about freedom, fun, and keeping the groove 100%.”

Empowering Discovery and Sustaining Relevance

Extra Version is built to amplify artist visibility, enable deeper participation in the growing Creator Economy, and expand reach through remix culture by introducing music to new audiences. The program marks a new chapter for Epidemic Sound, introducing a game-changing opportunity for seamless collaboration between top-tier artists and the Epidemic Sound ecosystem, all while preserving rights, representation, and creative control. Epidemic Sound’s users can now access the remixes and safely use them in their content, without worrying about copyright claims or takedowns.

“At Epidemic Sound, we’re creating new avenues for collaboration, distribution, and music discovery, empowering artists and creators to connect, innovate and thrive in a creator-first world,” said Oscar Höglund, CEO and Co-Founder of Epidemic Sound. “With Extra Version, we’re taking the first steps in building a new model that connects the world’s most influential artists with beloved content creators, expands the reach of every remix, and empowers creators with sound that resonates. It’s a step forward for artist discovery, brand amplification, and the long-term relevance of music across platforms.”

The launch of Extra Version builds on Epidemic Sound’s ongoing commitment to artist collaboration and mentorship. In the past year, the company has partnered with Johnny Marr and Richie Hawtin on dedicated programs to mentor the next generation of global music talent. By connecting emerging artists with cultural icons and expanding creative pathways through initiatives like Extra Version, Epidemic Sound continues to redefine how music is made, discovered and shared across platforms.

Distribution at Scale While Empowering Artists

The remix program taps into Epidemic Sound’s vast distribution engine and creator-driven ecosystem, offering artists new ways to reach global audiences without compromising their rights, representation, or creative control. Tracks are now featured in content that generates over 3 billion daily views across YouTube and TikTok, an increase of 500 million compared to last year. With influencer marketing spending projected to surpass 10 billion dollars in 2025, the importance of soundtracking in driving engagement and music discovery has never been greater.

This new era of remixing not only breaks genre barriers but also reshapes what is possible for both artist brands and creator storytelling.
