Epidemic Sound brings the beat to SXSW London

Stockholm, Sweden, June 2 – Epidemic Sound, the world’s leading soundtracking platform, is bringing the beat to London, United Kingdom, with a series of exciting activities at SXSW’s first European edition.
During the week, Epidemic Sound will highlight how its platform empowers filmmakers, creators, and brands to tell their stories through sound — while helping artists break through and grow their fan base.
Epidemic Sound Chief Business Development Officer and Founding team member Tom Höglund will host a panel exploring the evolution of the creator economy, and the role that artists and creators play in shaping culture and entertainment. The panel will feature trailblazers that are reshaping the landscape.
Tom Höglund will also participate in a panel discussion led by Grammy Award-winning artist and visionary Wyclef Jean, exploring how creatives can claim and elevate their value in a changing world.
And because every great event needs a soundtrack to match it, Epidemic Sound artist Janset will be bringing the beats to the Canva Co-Lab event.
“We’re in the middle of a massive shift — where content creators and artists are redefining how content is made, shared, and experienced,” says Tom Höglund, Chief Business Development Officer at Epidemic Sound. “Creators are no longer just individuals with cameras — they’re building full-fledged media empires. At the same time, artists are reaching audiences in new, powerful ways across platforms. This transformation is changing how fans discover and connect with content. At Epidemic Sound, we’re proud to fuel this evolution — giving creators the music they need to tell powerful stories, while offering artists unrivalled global distribution. With 3 billion daily views on TikTok and YouTube alone, we’re part of shaping the future of entertainment.”
Here’s what’s happening:
Panel Discussion - Building Media Empires in the Creator Economy, June 2
Epidemic Sound Chief Business Development Officer Tom Höglund will be joined by Victor Bengtsson, Managing Director at Sidemen Entertainment, Katori Walker, Hip-Hop artist, and Rachel Sandy, artist, composer, and content creator.
Exactly a year ago today, the British YouTube group The Sidemen launched their own reality show on Youtube, Inside. The show became an instant success and has accumulated over 40 million views to date. The Sidemen used the track “Himothy” by Katori Walker throughout their hit YouTube reality series, which led to a 1600% spike in streams, catapulting Katori’s music to a global audience. By tapping into standout artists and powerful music, The Sidemen not only amplify emerging talent but also deepen audience engagement — showing how the right soundtrack can turn great content into unforgettable moments and drive viral discovery.
In this session, the panelists will explore how the evolving creator economy is reshaping the way content is made, shared, and experienced. As creators grow into full-scale media powerhouses and artists build deeper, cross-platform relationships with fans, audiences are engaging with content in more immersive and interactive ways. Together, they’ll unpack what this means for the future of entertainment — and how creators, artists, and platforms are driving this transformation.

Panel Discussion - Cultural Currency - The Singular Unshakable Constant, June 3
Tom Höglund will also participate in a panel led by Grammy Award-winning artist and visionary Wyclef Jean, exploring how creatives can claim and elevate their value in a changing world.
Tom and Wyclef will be joined by Sheniece Charway, Head of Black Music & Culture, EMEA at YouTube/Google, and Olly Bengough, CEO & Creative Director at KOKO London. The session will be moderated by Madeline Nelson, Founder and CEO of Purple Cow Innovation.
In the panel, they will discuss how creatives can protect musical and cultural integrity in a world where sound is licensed at scale, and what safeguards — human or AI — are needed to preserve authenticity. The conversation will also explore how we define “value” in a fragmented attention economy, and why cultural currency — the stories, identities, and lived experiences of creators — is emerging as one of the most powerful drivers of influence, innovation, and global connection.
