Stockholm, Sweden – Epidemic Sound, the soundtracking platform for content creation, expands within the podcast industry with Acast and Unwell Network partnering with the company to elevate their podcast content with great music and sound. Unwell Network represents some of the biggest podcasts in the world such as “Hot Mess”, which is using the track “Hot Mess” by Epidemic Sound artist NBHD Nick as its theme song. Meanwhile, the global podcast company Acast receives 1.1 billion quarterly listens from across the globe. Acast and Unwell join Audioboom, Realm, Audio Chuck, Pocket FM, and T Brand Studio by The New York Times among others already empowering their podcasters and creators with music from Epidemic Sound.

The global podcast consumption has steadily increased in the past years, and is predicted to surpass 500 million active podcast listeners in 2024. According to a 2024 YouGov research of 47 global markets surveyed, 40% of consumers say they listen to podcasts for more than one hour per week. Moreover, the number of podcast creators on Spotify now actively publishing video content each month has grown nearly nearly 70% year-over-year.

As the consumption of podcasts continues to grow worldwide, weaving music and sound effects throughout the episode to keep listeners engaged, emphasize key moments, and add emotion to the story has become an important part of ensuring podcast success. Epidemic Sound’s 2024 Future of the Creator Economy Report, which surveyed podcasters, YouTubers, and other content creators, reveals that 80% of content creators say that music can make or break their content’s success, and 85% of creators select music based on which feeling they want their audience to feel.

Podcast companies now turn to Epidemic Sound to empower creators to elevate their content with music and sound from Grammy award winning artists, Hollywood-grade sound effects, and next-generation soundtracking tools. Through Epidemic Sound’s innovative licensing model, podcasters can publish content across any channel globally, and easily expand into multiple platforms and formats without legal risks such as content take-downs.
