Stockholm, Sweden – Epidemic Sound, the soundtracking platform for content creation, has launched a mentorship program in collaboration with Changers Hub, designed to offer career development and learning and growth opportunities for participants. Changers Hub is an innovation house which is on a mission to democratize success for young adults, and focuses on helping young people with unequal opportunities to find careers.
The mentorship program took place at the Epidemic Sound headquarters in Stockholm, and ran for 10 weeks, beginning September 2024. During the program, six mentees from various tech backgrounds received hands-on career development advice depending on their unique needs – from tips for doing a career change, transitioning into a more technical role, developing soft skills, and more. The mentees are part of the Changers Hub community and applied to participate in the mentorship program.
“Before starting this program, I felt low in my career, where I had no motivation, but after the mentorship there came a spark and I completely rebooted and reset my thoughts and my actions to take everything in,” said Marvin Shastan, Changers Hub mentee who is currently working within the tech industry as an IT specialist looking to transition into cyber security. “Through this program, I’ve discovered that this type of learning works really well for me compared to traditional learning techniques in school.”
Each of the mentees were matched with mentors from Epidemic Sound with experience and knowledge specific to the mentee’s goals and challenges.
“I’ve been admiring the Epidemic Sound and Changers Hub partnership from afar and when this opportunity came up, I was all in! I was matched with the perfect mentee for me, Marvin. From the first meeting we were able to shape the program so that it aligned with our thought structure, how we learn, and how we approach challenges,” said Sana Imtiaz, mentor and Cybersecurity Engineer at Epidemic Sound. “I’m grateful for being able to play a role in Marvin’s career transition, and I was impressed with his passion for cybersecurity, how fast he learns, and of course, his curiosity. For me personally, this mentorship meant that I was able to practise leadership skills, learn about different career paths, and experience growth in my current role! But mostly, I was happy to pass something forward as my education was also funded by merit scholarships.”
The partnership between Epidemic Sound and Changers Hub will continue in 2025, with a mix of programs and events planned throughout the year to engage Changers Hub's community of young tech professionals.
