Stockholm, Sweden – Epidemic Sound today announces it has acquired Swedish mood music record label, A-P Records, for an undisclosed amount.

Through the acquisition, the company strengthens its position within the mood music arena by boosting its capabilities to soundtrack people’s lives via music streaming platforms and by adding the opportunity to work with world class mood musicians from a record label

Alex, co-founder at A-P Records, comments: “Everyone knows Epidemic Sound are the leaders in mood music. It’s an honor to join their group. We’ve had some great conversations so far that really confirms that joining their journey was the best way to scale our company.

“We’re so proud of our music and musicians we work with and we’re really looking forward to working with even more music creators over at Epidemic Sound to soundtrack even more people’s lives around the world.”

Oscar Hoglund, co-founder and CEO comments: “In our bid to soundtrack the world, we’re always looking at two areas; how can we keep providing music to the world’s storytellers and how can we keep evolving to support the world’s music creators who want to thrive through music. As soon as we started talking to Alex, it became clear that he and his record label had the same love for music and share the same values to always provide 50/50 revenue splits from music streaming platforms to music creators as us.

“We’re so thrilled to have the A-P Records team become part of the wider group and are excited about what we’ll create together over the coming years.”

A-P Records co-founder and CEO, Alex Papaconstantinou, will remain at the helm with A-P employees moving into the Epidemic Sound offices on 1st March 2022. Epidemic Sound will provide access to expertise and resources in this field to help increase revenue and opportunities for A-P Records music creators and support the growth of the record label.

The acquisition news comes off the back of the news that Epidemic Sound has appointed former Docusign, Dropbox and Shazam executives to its board of directors. See here for more information on the announcement.
